In-situ EBSD experiments performed at high temperatures enable researchers to observe microstructural changes, such as recrystallisation and phase transformations, as they happen. However, the increase in infrared (IR) signal with elevated temperatures makes conventional EBSD detector phosphor screens unsuitable for such analyses.
In this application note we introduce a new type of phosphor screen, with an in-built optical interference filter to remove the IR signal, and demonstrate its enhanced performance at temperatures up to 920 °C, enabling direct observation of the alpha-beta phase transformation in Titanium.
